The Rt Revd Sarah Mullally DBE, the Bishop of Crediton, has been named as the new Bishop of London.

As Dean of the Province of Canterbury, Bishop Sarah will have a particular role supporting the oversight of the Archbishop of Canterbury for the Southern Province and she will work closely with the Bishop at Lambeth, the Rt Revd Tim Thornton, in this.

The Bishop of St Germans, the Rt Revd Chris Goldsmith said: “I am delighted that Bishop Sarah will become the next Bishop of London. She has been an excellent colleague and friend and a blessing to the people of Devon and the south west during her time as Bishop of Crediton. She led the retreat and preached for our ordinands two years ago and left a lasting impression on us all.”

The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, said: “I very much look forward to working with her on her move to London in 2018.”
