Most people who are involved with a church will have seen the incredible difference that volunteers make to their communities. From foodbanks to Lay Pastoral Ministry, from running youth groups to raising seemingly impossible amounts of money to help all kinds of good works go ahead, from going into schools to listen to children read or providing individual support to individuals who need a hand … volunteers are everywhere.

Without them our lives would be poorer in many ways.

And often they go about their work with no expectation of any thanks or recognition which, in one way is one of the wonderful things about volunteering.

But it can also be good for those who either receive help or see it going on around them to take the time to say ‘thanks’, or ‘well done’.

The Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering Awards provide just such an opportunity – they are a celebration of some of the amazing work that goes on in our community and a source of some amazing stories of personal commitment and selflessness.

Is there someone in your church community who you believe deserves a nomination?
If so, don’t delay – the nominations are now open. The full list of categories is below and you have until the end of August to make your suggestions – which you can do  online or on paper.

Everyone who is nominated will receive a certificate, and the Highly Commended nominees and Winners will be invited to the Awards Ceremony in November and be presented with glass trophies and certificates as a reminder of the day.
