First steps along strategic path
The Archdeacon of Bodmin, The Ven Clive Cohen, is to take on the role of interim Managing Director of the Diocese of Truro when the current Diocesan Secretary, Sheri Sturgess leaves in March.
He will be assisted by Esther Pollard, the new Deputy Diocesan Secretary, Charlotte Dixon, Assistant to the Diocesan Secretary, as well as Clare Jones, Secretary to the Diocesan Secretary and Lesley Fusher, Secretary to the Archdeacons.
These are the first steps to ensure the organisation of the Diocese is in line with delivering its strategy for the future.
The Bishop of Truro, The Right Revd Tim Thornton has already flagged up his vision for the Diocese - summarised as ‘Discovering God's Kingdom, Growing the Church' - and some broad brush changes have already been proposed to allow the shape of the Diocese to be fit for purpose. These will be considered by the Diocesan Executive later this month.
Esther Pollard joined the Diocesan team 18 months ago, bringing with her wide experience of working at a senior level in the marine and airline industries, in marketing and sales for legal and design businesses and latterly in major project management.
Charlotte Dixon has been PA to Bishop Roy, Suffragan Bishop of St Germans, for six years. She began her career in promotions at the Oxford University Press, subsequently becoming marketing manager for Faber Music and liaising with the media - including BBC Radio and Classic FM - whilst working with Carboni Classical Media.
The appointment of a new Diocesan Secretary will be deferred. Commenting, Bishop Tim says: "I believe it is better for us to make the changes we know are necessary first and then bring in someone new to head up the new structure."
