The Diocese enjoys a good working relationship with all local media.
And in addition the Communications Officer also provides:
- Regular briefings and Media Releases are supplied to the one Regional daily newspaper, The Western Morning News, and to the weekly area newspapers, which include:
The West Briton (Truro and the west)
The Cornish Guardian (Mid Cornwall)
The Post and Weekly News Series (North Cornwall)
The Cornishman (West Cornwall
The Cornish Times (East Cornwall)
The Packet Series (Falmouth, Truro, Helston) - News items, interviews, briefings and background information are provided to BBC Radio Cornwall, BBC ‘Spotlight' (regional news) ITV Westcountry (Independent local television news) Pirate FM, Atlantic FM (commercial broadcasters)
- The Communications Officer is available to broadcast as and when required on all regional radio and television stations and writes commissioned articles for the local press
- Press Releases are provided, where relevant, for national media
In recent years, the Diocese, through its previous Communications Officer, has contributed support, background information and editorial input to a number of highly successful TV series in recent years including several produced by Tiger Aspect for initial transmission on BBC2. These have included ‘Seaside Parish' 2 series featuring the parishes of the Boscastle area, and one series concerning the work of the Diocesan Bishop; and Island Parish, 3 series featuring the Isles of Scilly. These series of 6,8 and 12 half hour programmes have regularly attracted audiences in excess of 3 million per episode.
