Gearing up to meet your needs

Newly appointed Diocesan Deanery Development Facilitators, Shelley Porter and Sarah Welply, are already beginning to build up their activity levels across the deaneries.

Although they are both still supporting children's and youth work, their primary focus is  the sharing of best practice at a ‘grass roots' level to enable deaneries to setup and maintain self-sustaining mission and ministry. To this end, they are devising a ‘toolkit' of resources and a busy schedule of training sessions, many of which can - and will - be available for delivery at a local level.

Shelley and Sarah are also available to help parishes to identify and develop people with precious, individual skills and talents that can be harnessed and nurtured to the common good, and to provide encouragement by working alongside individuals and groups where they are, both geographically and spiritually.

Commenting, Shelley said: "These are exciting and challenging times and Sarah and I are looking forward to establishing support networks throughout the Diocese and helping deaneries to develop their plans for discovering God's Kingdom and, in so doing, to grow the Church."
