Workplace Chaplaincy
Workplace chaplains work in a variety of ways linking faith, worship and daily life, by visiting people in their workplace and encouraging people to deepen their understanding of the relationship between the Christian faith and the economic order.
In the contemporary world the church is concerned not just with individuals but with issues that shape our daily lives.
There are lay and ordained chaplains in workplaces all over Cornwall including statutory services, education, emergency services, armed forces, hospitals, markets and farming, retail sector and businesses. Cornish workplace chaplains meet together about three times a year for mutual learning and support. New chaplains and those wishing to start a new chaplaincy are always welcome.

Information Regarding a Recent Workplace Chaplaincy Day
A group of Cornwall's workplace chaplains made a recent visit to Falmouth Dockyard to visit the docks and the Missions to Seafarer's. A and P, the dockyard owners, gave us a warm welcome and a very interesting presentation and tour of the docks. It was good to learn more about seafaring and the opportunity that the Mission to Seafarers has to minister to those who go to sea. 90% of all UK imports come by sea and are brought by a diminishing number of seafarers, many of whom are away from home for 9 months of the year. Seafaring is often not the employment of choice, but of necessity and the long spells away from home lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness. As less time is spent in port seafarers do not always have time to visit the local town to get in touch with their families. The hospitality and IT facilities that are offered by the Flying Angel clubs in the docks are a lifeline.
