The grant of the Faculty
The Registrar checks the paperwork, obtains the formal approval of the DAC to the proposal and sends the papers either to the Chancellor or to the Archdeacon.
The decision whether or not to grant the faculty is that of the Chancellor or the Archdeacon alone. If approval is given, the Registrar will issue the faculty and send it to you.
No action may be taken until you have received the faculty. Do not enter into any contract for the carrying out of the work or the purchase of goods or materials. Do not allow any work to start. The Registrar also sends copies of the faculty, which you must hand to the architect and contractor responsible for the work, and three copies of a certificate of completion of works authorised by faculty.
One must be completed and signed and returned to the Registrar within four weeks after the completion of the work, one must be sent to the Archdeacon, and one placed in the church logbook.
