Parish Regulations
A Parochial Church Council may provide regulations which are complementary to, but not less stringent than these regulations. Such regulations are approved by the Archdeacon.
Consent
You must obtain the written consent of the minister of the parish before any memorial is ordered from the funeral director or monumental mason. You must make an application on the standard form which you can obtain if you click here (which links through to the form at the end of this section). You should send the form to the minister of the parish. You can obtain his or her details by clicking here, this leads you to a Church Near You website.
If you want the Archdeacon to authorise your memorial because it does not comply with these regulations but you believe it has artistic merit, you should make that clear when you send the form to the minister of the parish. He can then refer it to the Archdeacon.
If you wish to apply for a faculty you should take the advice of the Diocesan Registrar, Martin Follett at Michelmores LLP, Woodwater House, Pynes Hill, Exeter EX2 5WR 01392 687415 mjf@michelmores.com
