Information for PCCs

PCCs with an income greater than £100,000 in 2008 and subsequent years will now need to register with the Charity Commission. If a parish has income over £100,000 for an exceptional reason such as the receipt of a large legacy or from a major appeal action is still needed.

In these circumstances the PCC should apply to the Charity Commission for a written determination not to have to register.

The Church of England nationally has been working with the Charity Commission to make the registration process as straightforward as possible. Detailed guidance notes have been prepared and are available from Rebecca Evans, the Parish Resources Officer.

For more information about registration for parishes in the Diocese of Truro email rebecca.evans@truro.anglican.org Updates on registration and related issues can be found on the Parish Resources website www.parishresources.org.uk

Copyright Guidlines and Temporary Event Notices

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Guidelines concerning the use of music, video and images. These guidelines have been drafted to guide parishes through parts of The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (‘The Act'). As many of us are becoming more conversant with website design, Powerpoint, desktop publishing and the wealth of resources seemingly available to us on the Internet, we need to be aware of how The Act operates to protect the rights of copyright owners, authors and artists. Click here for the Copyright Guidlines.

Churches often use their premises, including church halls, for concerts and plays as a means of fundraising. It may be the case that if a premises license is not already held then a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) is required. To download more information on this license, click here.
