Giving for Life

Giving for Life, a national church initiative on stewardship

In July 2009 General Synod debated and commended to parishes the first major report on giving and generosity in the church since 2000. The full synod report, Giving for Life, can be downloaded below. The report reiterated the call for churchgoers to give 5% of their take home income to and through the church, with a further 5% to fund God's mission in the world through other organisations.

The emphasis of Giving for Life is on generous discipleship as a lifelong journey, linked to a vision of what could be if our horizons were wide enough. Resources have been produced to help parishes and deaneries think through how to implement the report, and these can be found by clicking here. Some resources have also been distributed to parishes and clergy.

Giving for Life does not replace the Diocesan stewardship pack, Vision, Mission, Money? The two are complementary, and both have as a base a vision of growing generous disciples, who want to see their church and community fulfil God's vision for them.
