Parish resources
A parish's greatest resource is its people, and Parish Resources at Diocesan House exist to support those people who enable the mission of the church in their parish.
Some of this work is in the background, keeping the church running through administration and record keeping. We recognise that this is vital to the present and future of our churches.
Parish Resources covers the calculation and collection of the Common Fund, parish accounts and reporting, advice and support to PCC treasurers, stewardship and the Archbishops' Council Mission Fund.
Two members of staff are directly involved in Parish Resources.
Julie Millar - Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Secretary
Julie qualified as a Chartered Accountant before training for the ministry. Her role is concerned with the preparation and administration of Pastoral Schemes for parish reorganisation and related issues. Julie is also involved with the implementation of MAPping through the MAPping group, and for Stewardship and Gift Aid. She remains treasurer for the World Church Committee Umzimvubu funds.
Julie works Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Diocesan House, and visits treasurers for support and parishes to preach on request. Milly Clare - Acting Common Fund Officer
Her concern is parish finances and in particular working alongside PCCs that may have difficulties meeting their Common Fund payments. She regularly visits parishes and keeps in close touch with them. She advises on Pastoral Resource Grants [£165,000 in 2009] and Archbishops' Council's Mission Fund grants [£48,500 in 2009] which are respectively available to help PCCs with shortfall on their Common Fund and on funding new Mission and Outreach activities.
