Church Insurance is a highly specialised area of the insurance market and the Diocese has for some years arranged a Group Insurance Scheme with Ecclesiastical, formerly known as the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group (EIG).

Parishguard - Anglican church insurance. This comprehensive church insurance policy includes many features as standard for which some insurers charge an additional premium. Cover includes property damage, loss of income following an insured event, theft by Church officials, public liability, employers' liability and more. The substantial majority of parishes in the diocese insure with Ecclesiastical. There are, however other companies that offer church insurance and their cover may be more appropriate for some churches.

The Parochial Church Council should carefully consider all aspects of insurance cover if the parish is to meet its obligation to church members and the community. PCCs should recognise that they are custodians of the history of the sacred space which is their parish church, and insure accordingly.
