Gift Aid
Making your gift worth more with Gift Aid. Donations to the church or charities can be worth nearly a third more through Gift Aid. Gift Aid allows charities to reclaim the tax on the income you have donated to that charity. Using Gift Aid means your gift does more to help the church and further mission.
In 2006-7 Gift Aid was worth £828million to charities, of which more than 10% was paid to Church of England parishes. This makes an enormous difference to the income of the church, at no cost to the donor.
Anyone who is a UK taxpayer can make their donation worth more. Gift Aid enables you to boost the value of your donations by 25p for every £1 you give to your local parish. So, for example, if you decide to give £10 to your local church they will be able to reclaim an extra £2.50 from HM Revenue & Customs. It might not sound like a lot, but every penny really does count!
