In the event of an Extreme Emergency
In the event of an extreme emergency you must take such action as you consider necessary to protect yourself or others and inform Parsonage Department as soon as possible afterwards.
Examples might include a gas leak, broken electrical cables or a part uprooted tree over a public space. Emergency Services, Gas and electrical emergency numbers will be in the front of your local telephone directory. If you find yourself in such an emergency situation, please inform the Parsonage Department immediately by telephone, leaving a message on the answer phone, if the office is closed, indicating what has happened and who you have informed. If this is the case please also immediately inform your Archdeacon of any works being instructed in this manner.
You should only instruct works required to deal with an extreme emergency. If work can wait until the next working day please ensure instructions are issued through Diocesan Parsonage Department e.g. If a tree that has been partially uprooted but is not creating any immediate danger to property or to the public, it can be left until the next working day.
Please remember that in instructing any contractor to undertake emergency work you should consider the Health & Safety implications. Click here to read more about works instructed by you section of this site.
