Glebe Property
Glebe property in the Diocese of Truro comprises largely agricultural land, but also some commercial and residential properties, gardens and miscellaneous property.
Maps of the glebe property held by the Diocese of Truro are kept at Diocesan House. The rents receivable and other income from this property are paid directly to the Diocesan Stipends Income account, from which the stipends of the clergy of the Diocese are paid.
Due to the great shortage of lower priced properties in the county, the Glebe Committee looks to provide land for this type of development and continues to work closely alongside the district authorities and housing associations.
The Board continues to look at offers from private individuals wishing to purchase small plots of land bordering their properties: the proceeds are invested in the Stipends Capital Account which generates an income towards the payment of clergy stipends.
