Children's Adviser

Shelley Porter, our Children’s Adviser enables, supports and resources any work being done by and in local churches with those aged 0 -11 years by:

Training people who work with children in a church context, including Godly Play, Open the Book, Core Skills

Recommending resources, maintaining a resource lending library

Encouraging children on their faith journey, including Children and Communion, baptism, confirmation and follow up, regular and one off activities

Being a voice for children and raising awareness of them and their leaders

Developing the understanding and practice of family friendly and all age worship

Encouraging good practice within legal frameworks

Being a point of reference for all issues relating to children and church

Encouraging and supporting parishes to engage with their local schools

Shelley Porter

Shelley has been a Primary School teacher, Sunday school teacher, Playgroup committee member, & a member of a School Parents' association. She works full time for the Diocese, is an Accredited Godly Play teacher, the South Western Dioceses representative on National Children's Advisers Executive, Treasurer of Luxulyan PCC, Leader of church children's group, & a local worship leader.

She believes passionately in Children's participation, storytelling, creative worship, and exploring outreach opportunities; she very strongly dislikes cancelling events!
