The Church of England has issued guidance for people who are considering joining in with a shoebox appeal this year.

National policy adviser Dr Anne Richards has drawn up the guidance, which consists mainly of factors to consider and questions to ask to help people make up their own minds as to which appeal to support.

It follows controversy over some of the appeals, and particularly links to people expressing views that others might find offensive, or whether they are aiding unhelpful or inappropriate forms of evangelism.
